Nokia 7900-Prism Review

Nokia 7900-Prism Review

Every now and then, a phone hits the market that is completely new and original. These phones do a lot to enhance the public's perception of mobile devices; much like the infamous Motorola RAZR did a few years back. This time, however, Nokia seems to be bringing out avant-garde designs with their new Nokia 7900-Prism, a phone that is unlike anything you have ever seen before.

Despite the traditional candy bar shape of the Nokia 7900-Prism , there is nothing much else on the device that resembles any phone you have ever seen. Everything about the Nokia 7900-Prism  has been designed around the triangle and the diamond shape – hence the name Prism. If you're looking for a phone that is as much of a fashion statement as it is a communication device, this may be what you've been waiting for.

The Nokia 7900-Prism is a quad band GSM device so it is perfect for world travelers who like to keep their phone with them at all times. Furthermore, the Nokia 7900-Prism  is 3G capable, but only to the American marketplace. For all other parts of the world, the phone will downgrade itself to the slower GPRS or EDGE network.

With a size that is approximately four and a half inches by two inches by half an inch, the Nokia 7900-Prism is a rather small device. It also weighs in at 101 grams. However, as is the problem with most of Nokia's product line, the battery life is poor, only allowing for three hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time.

As is characteristic of Nokia's higher end devices, the Nokia 7900-Prism includes the large and beautiful 240 pixel by 320 pixel, sixteen million color LCD screen along with a slew of other features. Some of those features include: a two Megapixel camera with eight times digital zoom, a music and video player, one GB of built in memory, an FM radio, Bluetooth support, and all of the other features you would expect to see in a mid-high end phone.

Pros
Unique design
Great LCD screen
3G support
Cons
Terrible battery life
Memory not expandable
Design is really "love it" or "hate it"
Overall
Is the Nokia 7900-Prism the next big step forward in phone design? Only time will tell. But one thing that is for certain, the Nokia 7900-Prism is a great mid-high range device with some impressive features. However, there are better devices in the field with far more cool bonuses built in. Unless you are in love with the Nokia 7900-Prism's design, look elsewhere.
