LG VX-4700 Review

LG VX-4700 Review

The LG VX-4700 is LG's first phone with push to talk capability. The phone follows a long line of LG's clamshell design of phone. It offers a sleek but still attractive looking design that is a pleasure to look at and comfortable to use. The LG VX-4700 as with other LG clamshell models offers rounded edges and corners. This offers the utmost in comfort when placing or receiving those extra long calls. You hand will not suffer as is common with the more sleek, thin RAZR style of phone. The ~fold down design also makes easy and quick storage possible. It will go nicely into most cases and purses. Your pockets will be protected from damage and with its light weight you will hardly know that it is there.

The physical characteristics are what you would expect from a phone of this style. LG VX-4700  has small stub antennae, a 2.5 mm headset jack, and weighs in at less than 4 ounces. It also has easy to press side keys to help you navigate through all of your menu choices. It comes with a lithium ion battery already installed and offers over 3 hours of continual talk time. The stand by time is quite respectable at 190 hours.

A very nice feature about this phone is its second display. Many of LG's early clamshell, flip phones did not have this. Users complained that when calls came in one had to completely open the phone to access the caller ID. This was unsafe as well an inconvenient. This model thankfully does have the 2nd display installed. It is easy to locate being placed on the front of the phone.

The internal display features of the LG VX-4700  are also great. It has over 65,000 colors available on 128x128 display information. It also has STN technology and LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). It has a phonebook capacity of over 500 hundred names and a polyphonic ringer. There is also an alarm, a calendar and a calculator. Those with hearing difficulties will appreciate the phones TTY/TDD capabilities. This enables all information to be given digitally. Even those with quite a profound hearing loss can benefit from owning one of these phones. The phone is also hearing aid compatible.

Those who travel extensively will appreciate the GPS satellite navigation system. If you're traveling into an unfamiliar area, this will enable you to pin point where you need to go and give you the necessary instructions on how to get there. This is a very handy feature should you find your self in an unfamiliar city, looking for an office or a building.

On the fun side of the phone, there is a nice selection of games available and you have the custom ring tone option. You also have multiple numbers per name and a series of icons designating, home, work or cell.
