HTC Touch XV6900 Review
The HTC Touch XV6900 is a Verizon Wireless white-hot version of the HTC Touch. HTC Touch has been available in GSM and Sprint versions in the market and it's about time that Verizon Wireless joins the fray. The medium-gloss vibrant white design of the XV6900 may be the only thing that identifies it from the Sprint HTC Touch.
The HTC Touch XV6900 was created as a means for addressing a number of issues in the first HTC Touch. The original PDA was marketed as a GSM phone. Instead of GSM , the XV6900 features CDMA EVDO, a 3G mobile technology, to upgrade it to 3G. Because of this, users will be able to access the Internet at faster speeds.
The XV6900 has a minimalist and sleek design. It is very palm-friendly; the phone fits snugly in your fingers. It does not require a keyboard or multi-buttons as it uses the TouchFLO user interface. There is an onscreen keyboard which you can use to type in text. The PDA phone also features handwriting recognition software to interpret text written using the stylus.
The three major multimedia features of this PDA phone are its music, videos and photos. It uses Windows Media Player for Mobile for its music. On the other hand, both its videos and photos launch the camera album application. The photos are great for Caller-ID dialing as the phone has a 3 x 3 grid in its screen.
The HTC Touch XV6900 phone is known for a great feature – it is Touch-powered. However, there are some multi-tasks that are best done using the stylus. A few gestures from the fingers will launch the rotating panels wherein users can easily navigate between various services on the XV6900. It has shortcuts to messaging via email or SMS, the wireless manager, notes and voice recorder.
Pros
The HTC Touch UI is legendary for making common tasks in PDA phones easier.
It has the same features as the original HTC Touch with a plus – faster data speeds.
Cons
It has no Wifi.
It offers no Java VM so users will have to look for add-ons online.
The package lacks the wired headset and a microSD card.
Overall
People who want a fresh look for the HTC Touch will surely be amazed at the elegant white finish of the XV6900. With faster data speeds to boast, the HTC Touch XV6900 is definitely white hot.
