The Blackberry 8730e
Verizon Wireless and Research in Motion (RIM) introduced their newest Blackberry on September 12, 2006. The Blackberry 8730e operated on Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network. It was available to Verizon Wireless customers 5 days later. The Blackberry 9703e integrated advanced device hardware, software and network technologies with a powerful handset that comes complete with a full 35-key QWERTY keyboard. The Blackberry offers Verizon Wireless customers an exceptional user experience for sending emails, browsing the world wide web as well as other mobile data applications and combines it with premium mobile features that include dedicated phone keys, smart dialing, conference dialing, conference calling, speed dialing, call forwarding, built in speakerphone that can be used for conference calls and hands-free use and Bluetooth technology for use with headsets and car kits.
The large, bright, high resolution LCD screen on the 8703e incorporates light sensing technology that automatically adjusts LCD and keyboard lighting levels to provide optimized viewing indoor, outdoor and dark situations. For corporate customers, Blackberry Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino and Novell GroupWise and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to e-mail and other corporate data. For individuals and smaller businesses, Blackberry Internet Service allows users to access up to ten corporate and personal e-mail accounts (including Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino and most popular ISP e-mail accounts) from a single device.
Verizon Wireless customers can use their handset as a modem and get broadband access on Verizon's award winning Evolution-Data Optimized network. A simple cable connection from the Blackberry to a laptop as well as a subscription to broadband service is all that is needed to download data. Broadband Access Connect provides a cost-effective solution for customers who want the option of accessing the Internet from their laptop. Customers can use Broadband Access Connect to download large documents at speeds averaging 400 to 700 kbps on Verizon Wireless' Broadband Access service, anywhere within the Broadband Access coverage area. For customers who travel outside a Broadband Access coverage area, the handset can seamlessly switch to Verizon Wireless' 1xRTT National Access network to remain connected.
