Blackberry's 8800 review

 Blackberry's 8800 review

Despite all of the positives about Blackberry's 8800, there are a couple of problems that some may find can make or break the deal. The biggest worry for most people is that the 8800 does not support any of the 3G services that make data and voice communication so much faster. For people using this phone for day to day business, the lack of speed in transferring data is extremely problematic. Also, while the full QWERTY keyboard is a blessing for those who enjoy sending text over the wireless networks, it makes the phone uncharacteristically wide and difficult for people with smaller hands to hold. Although this can easily be fixed with a hands free headset, it is still a drawback nonetheless.

Pros

  • Sleek and stylish smart phone with easy to use functionality
  • Full QWERTY keyboard for easy typing
  • Integrated GPS
  • Multimedia functions for music and video
  • Long battery life

Cons

  • No camera
  • Does not support any of the faster 3G services
  • Awkward for some people to hold
  • No integrated Wi-Fi
  • Call quality is not the best

Overall

The Blackberry 8800 is a well designed phone with a lot of built in functionality. While it does not support the very latest in technology, it is a great value nonetheless, as it is hard to pass up a phone with so much going for it. If messaging via email or Blackberry Messenger is your idea of a good time, this is definitely the phone for you.
