Audiovox THERA / 2032
The Audiovox THERA/2032 is a combination cell phone and PDA, all in one. This sleek cell phone has a modern new age look to it and its technology is based on the Microsoft Pocket software of 2002. The MHz processor is an Intel Strong Arm 206 and it contains 32Mb Flash ROM and 32 Mb SDRAM.
The Audiovox THERA/2032, is a CDMA 800/1900 phone and has a LCD display that supports 65,000 colors. The resolution in pixels is 240×320. The TFT screen is reflective which means that it is well suited to being used outside when the sun is shining its brightest. Indoor use is not a problem either as a sidelight has been added to the bottom edge of the screen which makes the display clear as a bell.
The Thera/2032 has the ability to connect to the Internet and it has SMS capability as well as the ability to play games. polyphonic ringtones are supported. The phone also has a vibrating function if you prefer that to the ringtone.
The lithium ion battery, as claimed by the company, lasts for three hours of talk time and has a standby of 100 hours but many users find that the life of the battery does not live up to what the manufacturer claims it will. If the Thera/2032 is left in standby with the screen turned off, the charge is only able to last for about 30 hours. This is not up to the highest standards for a phone/PDA of today. This will not bode well if the power goes off for any considerable length of time.
The phone functions are fine with the THERA/2032 and for using the phone, there is the versatility of using a head set or making use of the speaker phone.
Pros
The Audiovox THERA/2032 has some good points such as:
- USB port which allows for PC synchronicity
- High speed transfers are easily accomplished by way of the CDMA 2000 1×RTT support
- User can set practically any ringtone he or she wishes
- Cell phone interface is very good
- Expansion slot (secure digital and multi media card compliant) can be used to increase the memory of the phone
- Data is not lost even if the battery goes dead (thanks to the Sierra Wireless watcher application)
- Comes with a head set and speakerphone options
Cons
Unfortunately this cell phone/PDA has a few negative points worth mentioning:
- It is expensive
- Phone functions can be difficult to use as the phone must be turned upside down in order for it to be put up to the ear (awkward for many users)
- Poor battery life
- Dialing is only by way of the touch screen as there is no voice dial
Overall
While the Audiovox THERA/2032 has some good points, it also has many drawbacks. You might want to explore other cell phone/PDA options before you make the decision to buy this model. Do your research and give it plenty of thought before you buy.
