Audiovox SMT-5600

Audiovox SMT-5600

The Audiovox SMT-5600 has the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. It also supports Bluetooth, which is a huge plus. It includes a VGA camera with video capabilities. It also has a speaker phone and an amazing display. Some drawbacks are that the buttons are a bit small and can be hard to use for some users. It also has a history of having a difficult time syncing with cooperate exchange servers. The old saying that great things come in small packages rings true with the Audiovox SMT-5600. It turns out to be a great PDA device, as well as providing great cell phone use and multimedia performance. It also allows for accessing emails, has wireless web access and PIM access. It also supports Windows Media Player 10.0 for allows for synchronizing multimedia data. It is a bit expensive, at just over $300, but it should be well worth it.

It sports a 2.2 inch diagonal, 64,000 color display. This makes watching videos or recorded TV shows a cinch and very enjoyable. The vivid screen is crisp and clear and easily seen in many different lighting situations. It also makes web surfing much easier and provides much less strain on the eyes. The primary drawback is that so much space of the phone was used for the screen that not much space was left over for the buttons. It will take some time to get used to the navigation toggle keys, especially for those with larger fingers.

The Audiovox SMT-5600’s phone book is vast. Each contact can have up to 11 phone numbers, three email addresses, three street addresses, as well as other information. One can also group contacts together with a polyphonic ring tone. The selling point for the phone it is Windows Mobile 2003 OS, which makes it great as a PDA. Not only does it provide all the standard features and performance of a top of the line cell phone, it also excels in the PDA area as well. It syncs easily, email performance is great and it supports many web mail servers. The built-in VGA camera can take still photos as well as capture video images. It has three resolutions, seven color options, and four quality settings. It has a 3x zoom. The video capturing supports sound, and also has two resolutions and 2x zoom. The major drawback here is that it lacks a flash, and the photo quality isn’t always the greatest. Overall, this is a great smart phone and would make a great tool for any avid cell phone/PDA user.
