Audiovox PM-8920
The Audiovox PM-8920 is an integrated, multifunction phone with a 1.3 megapixel resolution camera. It also has dual 262,000 color screens, has ample memory, and has analog roaming in addition to 64mb of internal memory.
Among the drawbacks is that it has no Bluetooth or infrared port. It also does not allow for one to view photo Caller-ID on the external display. Talk time is up to 215 minutes.
Sprint PCS has really tried to up the ante with their new Audiovox PM-8920 camera phone. The majority of camera phones take less than satisfactory photos, the 1.3 megapixel camera on the Audiovox PM-8920 aims to rectify that dilemma. It is a bit pricey at around $300, but one could very well get a good deal on it by signing up for a new service.
It will not win any design awards, but it is stylishly simple. It also has blue lights that light up on either side to alert of incoming calls. It sports a bright and vivid 1-inch, 262,000 color display that is very clear. It has a 500 name phone book with ample room for up to five numbers for each name, along with an email address and other various notes. One can also organize contacts into groups with pictures or ring-tones. One of the more extraordinary features is its WAP 2.0 wireless web browser.
That said, the camera is the main distinguishing feature for the Audiovox PM-8920. It has five different resolutions using the CMOS lens. Any pictures taken on the highest resolution (1,280x960) would be printed up to a 4x6 photo format. One can also adjust for brightness and choose from a range of six white-balance settings. Three quality selections are also available. Sounded recorded is also an option. It has a 8x zoom, a self-timer and a multi-shot option. The flash is powerful for a camera, but won’t be for lighting up any dark rooms. 300 photos can be saved at the lowest resolution setting while 18 can be saved at the highest on the phone’s 64mb of memory. There is no slot provided for additional memory.
There are a few personalization options on the phone, but one can get online and download various games, ring-tones, and screensavers. Overall, this is a great phone. The drawback is that it is more of a prototype and will be followed by greatly enhanced versions.
